Pacific Northwest Trail and Grizzly Bears in the Yaak

In 2018, Lance Craighead and Wayne McCrory examined the likely impacts of a high-intensity hiking trail through the Yaak Watershed in NW Montana which is home to a very small population of grizzly bears. The final report can be downloaded here:

Wildlife corridors: critical habitat and safe highway crossings

Lance Craighead prepared a statement about the need to maintain a metapopulation of grizzly bears to ensure survival in the Lower-48 states.
